Shannon Connolly is a South African-born singer-songwriter whose original material blends blues, folk and country sounds ripe with thoughtful reflections on life and the human condition.
She got a head start in the music scene at the age of 16, performing as one half of the Pretoria- based alt-acoustic duo, Syrens – who went on to share stages with some of the country’s biggest names between 1996 and 2002.
In 2003 Shannon went to Europe where she tested the waters in London, busked the chilly streets of Galway and spent two summers performing for the revelers on the picturesque Greek island of Ios.
After returning in 2006, Shannon immersed herself in the Durban music scene, becoming known for her distinctive, warm voice and performing to enthusiastic crowds at some of the country's biggest and most well-loved music venues and music festivals.
During the same time Shannon also became a sought-after cover artist, playing familiar favourites with her own unique twist at weddings, celebrations, and other events.
Shannon released her debut EP, entitled "Little Seed" in early 2009, teaming up with Jerome Govender on bass and her sister Siobhan Connolly on backing vocals to create some unforgettable harmonies.
In June 2018, Shannon moved to London and enjoyed performing and busking in some of her dream venues. It was here she wrote and released her second EP, Big Big City, inspired by her new home.
After relocating to Cornwall in 2022, Shannon took a breath… then dove deeper than ever, creating some of her most memorable songs and performances to date. As her authenticity continues to expand as a songwriter and performer, she is now seeking venues and spaces that allow for intimate audience connections, inviting listeners to fully immerse themselves in her distinctive style of folk storytelling.
